MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University will play its first-ever road conference three-game weekend series beginning Friday when it travels to face University of South Carolina-Beaufort at USCB's Richard Gray Sports Complex.

The teams will play a doubleheader Friday beginning at 3 p.m. – with the second game starting 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first game one – and the teams close out the series Saturday with a single game starting at 12 noon.

About The Lions (1-6, 0-3 SUN)
  • FMU enters the weekend having had four days to recoup and regroup following its series-sweep loss to Webber International University this past weekend.
  • The Lions struggled to generate much offense against the Warriors, scoring three total runs in the three games.
  • Freshman infielder Trinity Hobley leads the team in batting average (.273) and slugging percentage (.273) this season while also being a part of a three-way tie for the team lead in hits.
  • Florida Memorial head coach Pedro Herrera has seen his team score fewer total runs in its six losses this season (8) than it scored in its one win this season (13).

Scouting USC-Beaufort (12-9, 3-0 SUN)
  • South Carolina-Beaufort strolls into the weekend series on a five-game winning streak, including a weekend series sweep of conference foe Warner University this past weekend.
  • USCB has shown itself to be a team that's comfortable playing in close games – holding a 6-3 record this season in games decided by two runs or less.
  • The Sand Sharks have five players with 20-plus hits up to this point in the season, led by Devon Weller's 25.
  • South Carolina-Beaufort head coach Codee Yeske is in her second season leading the program after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division-I program Austin Peay State University.

Series History
  • This weekend's series will be the first-ever softball meetings between the programs.

Keys To Victory
  • The Lions must take advantage of their offensive opportunities – showing that they can come up with hits when they runners on base – because manufacturing more runs could help their young pitchers as they face a potent USCB batting order.
