MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – After taking a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, Florida Memorial University saw that narrow lead get erased in the top of the ninth as visiting University of Fort Lauderdale scored five in the final inning and handed the Lions a 6-2 loss Wednesday at Harry T. • FMU's deficit ended up growing to 5-2 after Fort Lauderdale after another pair of defensive breakdowns – a wild pitch and a fielding error.
  • The Lions almost got something going in the bottom of the ninth – loading the bases with one out and with slugger Nathan Harris representing the tying run at the plate.
  • Harris struck out swinging then Jalen Young, who was making his first plate appearance on the day, grounded out to end the game.
