Lions Softball Welcoming No. 19 Southeastern For Weekend Series Beginning Friday

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University will host No. 19 Southeastern University for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Miami Carol City Park.
 
The teams will play a single game Friday and return to the Lions' home diamond for an afternoon doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
 
About The Lions (1-15, 0-12 SUN)
  • FMU has been off since its road weekend series at No. 10 College of Coastal Georgia this past weekend.
  • The Lions dropped all three games to the nationally ranked foe and still longing for the program's first conference victory.
  • Friday's game will be Florida Memorial's first-ever home night (starting after 5 p.m.) softball game.
  • Freshman catcher/outfielder Samantha Triana is currently on a team-leading five-game hit streak. She also leads the team in batting average at .381.
 
Scouting No. 19 Southeastern (25-7, 9-3 SUN)
  • Southeastern will enter the weekend with a sour taste in its mouth after dropping two games to No. 10 Coastal Georgia, snapping a six-game win streak.
  • After the doubleheader loss to CCGA, the Fire fell to 4-4 on the road this season.
  • SEU remains one of the top offensive teams in the Sun Conference, leading in total hits (274) and sharing the lead for total runs scored (187).
  • Fire head coach Kaylan Watkins is in her third season leading the program and is on track to set a new career-high for wins in a season this year.
 
Series History
  • This weekend's games will be the first-ever meetings between the programs.
