MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University will be looking to capture what has been an elusive first conference victory this season when it travels to face Warner University in a three-game weekend series beginning Friday at WU's Daly Field.

The teams are slated to play a single game Friday at 5 p.m. and return to the field for a doubleheader Saturday at 12 p.m.

About The Lions (1-23, 0-18 SUN)
  • Though FMU's losing streak continued this past weekend, it did show more signs of incremental improvement against Keiser University – trimming its final deficit in each game and even holding a lead in the second game.
  • The Lions got a solid performance from Heidy Olivo this past week, becoming the third Florida Memorial player to notch three hits in a game this season and earning a Sun Conference Softball Player of the Week nomination.
  • Junior pitcher Bridgette Tuxbury also added to her team-leading strikeout tally, now totaling 30.
  • Also, with Florida Memorial's performance in games two and three against Keiser, it marked the fourth and fifth times this season it prevented the 8-run mercy from being activated.

Scouting Warner (19-18, 7-8 SUN)
  • Warner University enters the weekend as losers of its past three games – a weekend series against nationally ranked Southeastern University.
  • Prior to the skid at SEU, the Royals has won seven of eight – including sweeps of Keiser University and Florida National (the two teams that most recently topped Florida Memorial) and taking two of three against Webber International University.
  • WU is led in most batting categories by senior slugger Ashton Owen. Owen leads the team in hits (38), runs scored (30), doubles (7), home runs (7), and RBI (21).
  • The Royals are 12-10 at home this season.
  • Warner head coach Meagan Smith is in her second season as the team's head coach and eighth year overall with the program.
