Andreana Graham Wins Long Jump; FMU TxF Has Solid Showing At Sun Conference Outdoor Championship Meet

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Florida Memorial University freshman jumper Andreana Graham won the Sun Conference Championship in the long jump, the women's team had multiple top-three finishers, and the men's team had two relay teams finish in the top-three over the weekend at the 2022 Sun Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar.
 
Graham took home the gold in the long jump with a leap of 5.37 meters. Freshman thrower Anaya Holloway had a pair of top-three finishes, taking second in the discus (36.09 meters) and third in the hammer throw (34.95 meters). Shikyla Walcott took silver in a pair of events – the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash while Monique Brown earned second place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.00 seconds.
 
FMU's women's 400-meter (4x100) relay team and 1,600-meter (4x400) relay team both took second with times of 47.68 seconds and 3:56.94 respectively.
 
All athletes and relay teams finishing in the top three of any events were named All-Sun Conference.
 
The Lions' women's team finished in third place overall with a total of 86 points, behind St. Thomas University (89 points) and overall conference champion Southeastern University with its 308.5 points.
 
FMU's men's team took eighth overall with 20 points. SEU's men's team won the overall conference title with 279.5 points.
 
In addition to her two podium-worthy finishes, Holloway also took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 11.23 meters. Her performance at the SUN championship meet cemented her place in the Lions' women's track and field record books. Her throw in the discus was the second-longest in program history behind Eunique Byrd's throw of 38.57 during the 2017 season and her throws in the shot put and hammer were both good for second place all-time in the record books.
 
Walcott also moved into second place in the FMU record books with her time in the 200-meter dash, surpassing Tamara Rigby's time of 24.55 in 2006.
 
Quinzel Bazilio and Graham earned FMU nine points total in the 100-meter hurdles finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Graham also contributed points by taking sixth in the triple jump while Kaylee Higgins also chipped in with her sixth-place finish in the long jump.
 
On the men's side, Florida Memorial's 400-meter (4x100) relay and 1,600-meter (4x400) relay teams both took third place with times of 43.17 and 3:19.11 respectively.
 
Antonio Thomas recorded the highest individual finish on the men's side – taking fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.94.
