Florida Memorial University Student-Athletes Earn Degrees At Spring Commencement

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – During commencement exercises this weekend at Florida Memorial University, 31 student-athletes will earn either undergraduate or graduate degrees.

"This is a very significant milestone for our graduating student-athletes and I am very proud of what they have accomplished," Florida Memorial Director of Athletics Jason Horn said. "They reached the final goal in our mission here in athletics – 'win, grow, graduate' – and that's amazing. They will always have a home here at Florida Memorial and I look forward to seeing where their life's journey takes them."

Ten of FMU's athletic programs were represented during the spring 2022 commencement, which was held on Florida Memorial's clock tower promenade, led by the men's basketball team with six graduates – including two-time All-Sun Conference performer Mubashar Ali.

The list of graduates also includes the baseball program's all-time leader for consecutive games reaching base in Rohandry Javier; two-sport conference champions (indoor volleyball and beach volleyball) Sammyra Albarran and Alanis Santana; and 2021 Mid-South Conference All-Academic honoree linebacker David Alexis-Wood.
