PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. | The FMU Lions soccer team finished in a 2-2 draw against Johnson University at Broward College South Campus in non-conference action.
In the first half, Florida Memorial (0-4-2) went down early and gave up a goal in the 20th minute to the Suns' Caio Brito. One minute later, Johnson scored another goal to take a 2-0 lead on the road.
However, in the 29th minute,
Kervens Joseph played a brilliant through-ball to the speedster
Brad Tulley, who was met by the Suns goalkeeper near the penalty area. Tulley beat the keeper with a perfectly weighted ball that ended up in the back of the net to cut the deficit to just one goal.
One minute later, Tulley produced the equalizer, connecting on a free kick just outside the 18-yard box that went over the wall, ricocheted off the bottom of the crossbar and slowly bounced across the line for the goal, which was his second in as many minutes.
Both teams had its fair share of chances in the second half to find the go-ahead goal, but neither team could come away with the victory. The Lions dominated the shot total in both the first (8-3) and second half (7-4).
FMU goalkeeper Juan Palacios finished with three saves and two goals allowed in the draw, while teammates Tulley and
Darian Crespo each finished with three shots on target.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, September 24 as they travel across the Everglades to face Ave Maria for the conference opener.
