MIAMI, Fla. | Sun Conference action began this week with Volleyball taking the courts. With all teams having at least one match under their belt, Keiser and Ave Maria are the two that remain unbeaten through week one.
Ave Maria picked up the most winners this week with three, sweeping both offensive and defensive awards for Women's Soccer. The Gyrenes have now posted five straight shutouts on the pitch.
SCAD-Savannah cross country teams shined at the NAIA Pre-Nationals invitational in Tallahasse, Fla. On Saturday as the men placed second and the women placed third. This led to the runners of the week sweep for the Bees.
St. Thomas, Keiser, and Florida Memorial all picked up two honorees each with Webber International picking up one award winner.
Defensive lineman Christian Mable earned Sun Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week honors for his 11 tackle, 4.5 sack performance in the Lions' 49-22 routing of Warner. He also added six tackles for loss totaling for negative 26 yards to go along with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Outside hitter Caroline Souza earned Sun Conference Volleyball Attacker of the Week honors for her recent performance in the Lions' 3-0 conference victory over Coastal Georgia, producing 22 kills, 11 digs, three aces and three blocks.
These awards are based on performances from September 12 to September 19.
"When I heard about the award, it got us all excited," said Souza. "It was a team effort, so I appreciate my teammates. We want to play well through the entire season; we have a new coach, new administration, and a new team. But overall, we all have one goal in common, to get that ring!"

Sun Conference Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Caroline Souza – Florida Memorial | Fr. – Outside Hitter – Parana City, Fla.
Souza racked up 22 kills, 11 digs, three aces and three blocks in Florida Memorial's first conference victory of the year in a 3-1 win over Coastal Georgia.

Sun Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week
Madelyn Haut – Ave Maria | Sr. – Middle Blocker – Monroe, Mich.
Haut continued to show why she is one of the best middle blockers in the Sun Conference. The senior had 12 total blocks on the week, with six each against St. Thomas and Webber. Her efforts at the net helped Ave Maria to their first 2-0 conference start since the 2013 season.
Sun Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week
Hannah Heide – (RV) Keiser | So. – Setter – Jupiter, Fla.
Continued her impressive 2022 season with 88 assists in two Sun Conference wins, as well as three kills, 22 digs, and two blocks.

Sun Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Alon Firdman, Webber International | Fr. – Forward – Barcelona, Spain
Firdman was the Warriors' key playmaker offensively in a 6-0 win over Trinity Baptist. He scored two goals, including the game-winner, and tallied an assist for a total of five points on the day.
Sun Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Jack Casey - Keiser | So. – Defender – Newbridge, Ireland
The sophomore added to his assist tally with two against Florida College this past Saturday. Casey made his third consecutive start for the Seahawks this season this past week.
Women's Soccer Players of the Week
Sun Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Liz Wolf – Ave Maria | So. – Midfielder – Rochester Hills, Mich.
Wolf had easily the best week of her collegiate career, scoring three goals and assisting on another. The sophomore scored both goals in AMU's win over Florida National, then assisted on one and scored on the other in a win over Pikeville. Two of Wolf's three goals came from more than 20 yards away from the net.
Sun Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Makenzie Ezell – Ave Maria | Sr. – Defender – Ocean Springs, Md.
Ezell has been the lynchpin of Ave Maria's defensive efforts this season, as the Gyrenes have allowed just three goals in eight matches and are currently riding a five-game shutout streak. Ave Maria currently ranks ninth in the nation, allowing just 0.38 goals per game through eight matches. This week, the Gyrenes shut out both Florida National and Pikeville, with Ezell playing a key role in ensuring very little even challenged the Gyrene goalkeepers.

Sun Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week
C'quan Jnopierre – #25 St. Thomas | Jr. – Wide Receiver– Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
C'quan Jnopierre continues to be an electric part of the Bobcat offense. The junior dual threat recorded a touchdown in the air and on the ground in route to a 52-0 defeat of North American. Jnopierre leads the conference in reception yards (336) and yards per game (112). In just one half, Jnopierre had one 11-yard rush for a touchdown and four receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown. C'quan now has scored a touchdown in all three games.
Sun Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week
Christian Mable – Florida Memorial | Jr. – Defensive Lineman – Americus, Ga.
Mable dominated the Royals front line, generating 11 total tackles along with 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the 49-22 defeat over Warner. The win lifted FMU to its largest win total since relaunching the program three years ago.

Sun Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Alejandro Prado – #25 St. Thomas | So. – Kicker – Miami, Fla.
Prado went a perfect 7-for-7 on extra point attempts while hitting a 21-yard field goal. The sophomore picked up 10 points on the day. On nine kickoffs, two were touchbacks for 487 yards and a 54-yard average.

Montserrat De Santiago - (RV) SCAD-Savannah | Sr. – La Grange, Texas
De Santiago and the Bees took on the NAIA Pre-Nationals Invitational on Saturday and placed third as a team. The senior finished third overall with a time of 18:32 in a field of 113 runners.
Sun Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Carson Philbin - (RV) SCAD-Savannah | Jr. – Charlotte, N.C.
Carson Philibin led SCAD-Savannah to a second-place finish at the NAIA Pre-Nationals Invitational, just behind NCAA Division II Valdosta State. Philbin finished fifth overall out of 94 runners with a time of 27:26.9.
