HIALEAH, Fla. | The Lions obliterated the Conquistadors of Florida National by the score of 100-57 at Bucky Dent. The victory marks the fourth win in a row for the red hot Lions, who remain at the top of the Sun Conference Women's Basketball Standings.
Florida Memorial jumped out the gate and scored 50 first-half points thanks to high energy and a stingy defense, scoring 43 points off of 29 FNU turnovers.
The Lions received a team-high 22 points from
Tianna Ayulo, who has been a huge spark since joining the team. Ayulo shot a sensational 10-for-11 from the floor, grabbed nine boards and had five steals in just 29 minutes of action while teammate
Chantel Barnett added 17 points and shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Both
Jasmine Worthy and
Aliyah-Deen Ahmad produced 16 points apiece while teammate
Quameerah Peterson-Gray chipped in with 11 points and nailed 3-of-5 three-pointers in the blowout victory for the Lions, who improve to 13-5 on the year.
As a team, the Lions dominated the rebound battle 54-32.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, January 21 as they face St. Thomas, who are the only conference team to defeat FMU. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Family Fernandez Center in Miami Gardens.
