FMU Lions squander two-goal halftime lead in 3-2 loss to SEU Fire

Lions were 45 minutes away from clinching third place before the second-half meltdown.

Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. | Florida Memorial scored two first-half goals and cruised to a 2-0 lead at halftime, just 45 minutes away from clinching third place in the 2023 SUN Men's Soccer Tournament. However, the tale of two halves got the best of the Lions, who gave up three goals as they fell 3-2 to Southeastern.

FMU defender Matthis Couinet scored the first goal of the night as his fellow Frenchman Tibo Gobet connected with him on the assist for the 1-0 lead. Seconds before halftime, super-sub Kervens Joseph found the back of the net and gave Florida Memorial a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break.

However, the Fire came to life in the second half and scored three unanswered goals, shocking the Lions.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, October 28 as they host Warner for senior night. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at Orange Bowl Field.
