MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Florida Memorial enjoyed a 10-point lead at halftime en route to a 79-66 victory in game one of the SSAC/SUN Challenge at the Cramton Bowl.
The Lions produced three scorers in double-figures, including Dillard University transfer
Raheem Carter, who finished with a team-high 15 points and nine boards while teammate
Chanze Cruesoe added 13 points, five assists and three rebounds as he connected on 6-of-9 shots from the field.
In the paint,
Latavious Mitchell played big for the Lions (2-0), producing nine points, 12 boards and three steals in the victory.
As a team, FMU finished with 58 points in the paint as the bench outscored the Crusaders 35-25.
FMU returns to action on Friday, Nov. 3 as they face Brewton-Parker College in Montgomery, Ala. in game two of the SSAC/SUN Challenge. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
