BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | With a total of 97 points, Florida Memorial women's indoor track and field team finished runner-up at the 2023 SUN Indoor Track and Field Championships, including a handful of winners on the podium.
In the women's 200 meter dash,
Denai Wilson led the way to a first place finish, posting a time of 24.68. Right behind her was teammate
Anitria Sangster for a second place finish, posting a time of 25.23. With a time of 25.76, fellow Lion
Qunizel Bazilio earned a fifth place finish.
Kaylee Higgins finished in eighth place, posting a time of 25.95.
The FMU Lions 4x4 team, consisting of Bazilio, Sangster, Wilson and
Monique Woods finished second overall in the 4x400 meter relay.
In the field events,
Andreana Graham earned a first place finish in the long jump, leaping a distance of 5.46 meters while teammate Higgins finished in sixth place, leaping a distance of 4.92 meters.
Graham also finished second in the triple jump, leaping a distance of 11.33 meters while teammate
Nevaeh Chase earned a 12th place finish, posting a mark of 9.76 meters.
Ryeyauni Bush led the way in the throwing events, earning a third place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 12.84 meters while teammate
Taela Campbell finished in fifth place, throwing a distance of 12.45 meters.
In the shot put, Bush's 10.79 meter mark was good for fourth place while Higgins earned a ninth place finish, posting a time of 9.17 meters.
