BABSON PARK, Fla. | Florida Memorial won their first conference game of the year, but eventually dropped the weekend series to Webber by falling in the rubber match at Nancy Nichols Field.

In the conference opener, the Lions and Warriors produced a true defensive battle, generating seven scoreless innings. However, in extra innings, Webber was able to produce the games' only run with a walk-off RBI-single to win the game.

The Lions got on top early and scored two quick runs to take a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when
Ciera Taylor reached home as a result of an error from the Webber pitcher. Moments later,
Karah Atkins generated an RBI-single that brought home Olivo for what proved to be the game-winning run.
The Warriors responded in the bottom of the first inning with one run, but it wasn't enough as the Lions held on for the slim 2-1 win, earning their first conference victory of the season.

Gabriela Pinto (4-1) pitched a complete game and allowed just three hits and one run while striking out one Warrior batter.

FMU 2 - Webber 6
The rubber match produced the overall largest run total of the weekend series as both teams combined for eight total runs.
Webber scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first, then poured in four additional runs in the bottom of the second to take a 5-0 lead.
FMU responded with two runs in the top of the fourth when
Alexandrea Matheny produced an RBI-single to right center that scored
Aleah Killebrew. Moments later,
McKenna Dawes generated an RBI-single that brought home
Ciara Justice for the Lions' final run of the contest.
The Warriors added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth inning to close the gap on any comeback attempt.

Bryanna Curry (0-3) gave up one earned run and was replaced by relief pitcher
Rachelle Frederick, who also allowed one earned run before being replaced by Morales, who pitched a total of four innings, allowing five hits, four runs, but struck out two Warriors batters.
FMU returns to action on Friday, March 24 as they host Ave Maria in conference action.
