FMU adds Gray as Assistant Athletics Director

Gray comes to Florida Memorial with NCAA Division 1 experience.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial has announced the hiring of Ashanti Gray as Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Event Operations.

"We are excited to add Ashanti, who is a proven leader, to our athletics staff," said Director of Athletics Jason Horn. "He has worked on the NCAA Division 1 level and is a standout among his peers. He is dedicated to his craft and will make an immediate impact on our campus."

Gray comes from Dillard University where he served as assistant coach for the men's basketball team before being elevated in his fourth season as the men's interim head coach of the Bleu Devils for the first half of the 2022-23 season. He also spent two seasons as the men's assistant basketball coach for the University of Mobile.

"I am extremely elated to start a new beginning at Florida Memorial University," Gray explained. "I love the facilities, beauty of the campus and the city. I look forward to my new role, the challenges it will bring, and the continued growth in my career."

After coaching at the University of Mobile, Gray spent time at the University of South Alabama as Assistant to the Athletic Director of Facilities and Game Operations.

Gray has impacted his previous communities in a positive manner as he served as a volunteer and a spokesperson for the Son of a Saint Youth Program, participated in the Culture Aid NOLA Food Distribution, and was a mentor for the Boys and Girls Club in Hattiesburg, Miss. He is also a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Gray received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi with a major in Sports Management and later obtained a Master of Education from the University of Mobile with a major in Higher Education Administration Leadership and Policy.
