MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | In the final non-conference game of the season, Florida Memorial faced a familiar foe in Fort Lauderdale, but fell 10-3 in non-conference competition. The loss drops the Lions to 16-18 on the year as they head to the final six games of the regular season.
Fort Lauderdale got the scoring going, with four runs in the top of the second. The Eagles added two more runs, one in the third and one in the fourth, giving them a 6-0 lead.
Raymond Rivera scored the first run for FMU in the bottom of the fourth, off an RBI by
Reinaldo Prieto.
Luis Ruiz followed suit, scoring off a sacrifice fly by
Levis Aguila, closing the gap to 6-2.

Ulises Rodriguez to cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the fifth. Fort Lauderdale added three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth, marking ten runs scored for the Eagles. FMU was unable to score for the rest of the game, losing back-to-back matchups against the Eagles. The loss drops the Lions to a 2-3 record against Fort Lauderdale this season.
FMU started eight different pitchers in the game, beginning with
William Hiciano. In two innings, he allowed four hits, four runs, and one walk to go along with two strikeouts.
Max Charnin came in relief in the top of the third and allowed one run and two walks along with two strikeouts.
Ricardo Alvarez de Lugo came in relief and allowed two hits, one run and struck out one Eagle.
Samuel Briceno came in relief of de Lugo and allowed no hits to go along with no strikeouts.
Jamal Johnson was next in line and struck out one Eagle.
Kelvin Feliciano followed suit and allowed one hit to go with one strikeout.
Jerryk Caceras came in relief for Feliciano and allowed three hits, three runs, one walk and struck out one Eagle batter.
Aaron Knowles finished the game for the Lions and allowed three hits, one run, and struck out two Eagles.
FMU returns to action on Friday, April 21
for the final road conference series of the season. The Lions will face the NAIA's top ranked team, Southeastern, with the final spot in the tournament on the line. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Lakeland, Fla.
