The Lions got behind early and trailed 6-0 in the first inning, then allowed another seven runs in the second en route to their biggest loss of the season. FMU's offense managed just three hits in the series opener.
Breana Morales (1-8) was credited with the loss and allowed four hits and four earned runs in 0.1 innings pitched before being replaced by
Gabriela Pinto, who allowed seven earned runs in 1.2 innings of work.
Rachelle Frederick finished the game for the Lions, allowing three earned runs in three innings pitched.

FMU played their best game of the series, giving up two runs in the opening inning before responding with their only run in the bottom stanza when
Karah Atkins went up to bat with a runner on second base. The reliable batter avoided a strikeout by reaching base on a Mariners error, allowing
Heidy Olivo to score from second.
Florida Memorial allowed two runs in each of the next two innings and couldn't recover, falling 6-1 in game two of the doubleheader.
Aashana Francis (1-2) allowed four earned runs and generated one strikeout in the loss.

The Mariners jumped out on top with two runs in the top of the second before FMU got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third inning when
Ciara Justice produced a two-RBI single to center field that brought home both
Alexandrea Matheny and
Kayla Jade Morales.
Unfortunately the Lions could not close the gap, falling in game three of the weekend series.
FMU returns to action on Thursday, April 6 as they host Warner in SUN action. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Broward College South Campus Field.
