MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | As the FMU football team heads home for summer break, head coach Bobby Rome reflects on the 15th and final practice of spring training, also known as the annual Spring Game at Betty T. Ferguson Stadium.

"Overall, our defense has overcome some adversity this off-season with Coach Terry moving on to Eastern Michigan, and I think Coach Terence Garvin and Coach Jameel Smith have done an outstanding job taking over the defense," said Rome. "I think we are quicker off the ball, and we're playing with 'lower pads'. We're using our hands better and we're penetrating more. We're being more violent, and that's something you have to do to disrupt an offense, and we didn't do that last year, so overall I'm excited. We really challenged our team to do it, and they have done a hell of a job so far."
On the offensive end, Michale Wingfield and Jalen Sonnier split time at the quarterback position while last year's starter,
Antoine Williams, was out with an injury.
"Offensively, we wanted to find an identity that we could call our own," Come Rome explained. "I believe we accomplished that and we're currently looking forward to the start of the season."
