Florida Memorial has best finish in over a decade for SUN Commissioner's Cup Standings

MIAMI, Fla. – Florida Memorial athletics earned a fifth place finish in the 2022-23 SUN Commissioner's Cup Standings.

The ranking is the highest in over a decade thanks to two conference championships from women's basketball as well as conference runner-ups from women's indoor and outdoor track and field. The women's basketball team was named SUN Women's Basketball Regular Season Champions with a 15-1 record, and also won the 2023 SUN Women's Basketball Conference Tournament.

"Congratulations to our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and managers on their relentless grind to elevate," said FMU Director of Athletics Jason Horn. "This is our best overall department finish in over a decade. There are great things ahead in Miami Gardens," Horn explained.

Commissioner's Cup points are awarded in descending order to full TSC members based on regular-season standings in the 15 conference sports, plus an additional five points to the conference tournament champion. The point allocation, regardless of the number of TSC members who sponsor the sport, will be 20 points for first place, 15 for second place, 12 points for third place, 10 points for fourth place, eight points for fifth place, seven points for sixth place, and so on.

The conference tournament champion for sports without regular season standings (M/W Cross Country, M/W Track and Field, and M/W Golf) received 25 points with the rest of the point allocations following the same format listed above; 15 for second place, 12 for third place, and so on. The points are then calculated by adding the top four men's finishes and the top four women's finishes for each full member school.
