FMU names DePaul as assistant SID for athletics department

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | FMU is pleased to announce the addition of Armany DePaul as assistant sports information director. DePaul is currently a junior at Florida Memorial, majoring in mass communications for television broadcasting.

DePaul began as a sports broadcaster in July of 2022 for the Caribbean Baseball Organization's Charles Johnson Summer League's playoffs. For the championship game, DePaul was paired in the booth with FMU Chairman of the Board of Trustees, William McCormick. McCormick offered DePaul admission to Florida Memorial University to continue his studies and develop his skills as a broadcaster.

In the fall of 2022, DePaul began his relationship with Florida Memorial as a public address announcer for volleyball and soccer games. Here, he began working with some of the members of the FMU athletics staff, including Assistant Athletics Director for Communications Habtom Keleta.

In the spring of 2023, DePaul began his first semester as a student for the Lions as well as a sports commentator for the school's spring home games on HBCU+. During this time, he became an athletic writer for the FMU athletics department, writing game recaps.

DePaul has hosted multiple sports podcasts for over four years. Currently he hosts his own auto racing podcast, The Motorsport Ministry, which he has been in existence for two years.

In May 2022, DePaul received his Associate of Arts degree from Broward College, where he was also inducted into the National Society of Leadership & Success (NSLS) and landed on the honor roll.

DePaul is also part of the Lions eSports program as a member of the eNASCAR racing team. Out of all the students participating in the program, he was selected as an ambassador for the Aston Martin Formula One Team as they attended the Miami Grand Prix last month.
