BLUEFIELD, W.V. - Florida Memorial's record setting afternoon ended with an interception in the end zone in a 50-47 thriller at the hands of Bluefield University (RV) at Mitchell Stadium.
The Lions scored on their opening possession on a 1-yard scamper from freshman running back
Michael Cabellero. FMU extended its lead to 21-10 following stops from the defense before a 7-yard touchdown scamper from
George Young as well as a 43-yard touchdown run from
Walter Wilbon.
FMU quarterback
Antoine Williams 25-for-44 for 306 passing yards, one touchdown and three interceptions, including a pick-six that went 90 yards, giving Bluefield the momentum towards the end of the first half. He also scampered 10 times for 55.

The much improved offensive line helped FMU set records on the afternoon, including total team offense (685 yards) as well as total team rushing (379 yards). The running backs also combined for a record six rushing touchdowns, while the offense produced 42 first-downs, a school record. Members of the offensive line include: All-conference lineman

Young finished with a total of three rushing touchdowns on 18 carries to go along with 156 yards while fellow running back Wilbon added two rushing touchdowns and 146 yards on the ground.
On the defensive end, Iowa State transfer
Daeshawn Davis finished with a team-high seven tackles as well as three tackles for loss while teammate
Charles Philias added five taclkes in the loss. Teammate
Christian Mable added one sack while fellow Lion
Tyrik Collins grabbed the only interception of the afternoon for FMU's defense.
The win marks 14 of 17 victories for the Rams, who narrowly escaped defeat against a gritty FMU squad.
The Lions return to Miami Gardens for another solid week of practice before traveling to Duval to face Edward Waters University in next week's Big Cat Classic.
