MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial took an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute, yet allowed back-to-back goals to open the second half before finding the equalizer in the 84th minute in a 2-2 draw against the 13th ranked team in the NAIA, Keiser University, at Dr. Lester Brown Park in the sweltering heat.
Lions' striker
Kervens Joseph wasted no time in answering the call, scoring his first goal of the season in the fourth minute on an assist from
Bryce Dickerson. FMU controlled the first half and maintained the one-goal lead heading to the break.
After halftime, the Seahawks came out on fire, scoring back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 lead. However, despite missing several chances off the post throughout the second half, FMU found a way to respond in the 84th minute, when all hope seemed lost. FMU's
Noah Link had a little daylight inside the penalty box and struck the ball with force, beating Keiser's keeper for the equalizer.
Six yellow cards were issued in the high-intensity match; four to Keiser and two for Florida Memorial.
The Lions return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 16 as they face Ave Maria in conference play for their first road match of the season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Ave Maria, Fla.
