#3 STU tops FMU in heated battle at Orange Bowl Field

Lions gave up a goal from a set piece in the second half.

Box Score MIAMI, Fla. | Florida Memorial battled their crosstown rivals in a heated contest, but fell 1-0 to No. 3 St. Thomas at Orange Bowl Field.

In a match that produced 11 cards, FMU and St. Thomas went scoreless in the first half as the Lions produced six shots compared to four for the Bobcats.

However, in the second half, St. Thomas generated the go-ahead goal and match-winner in the 58th minute when Guido Cacciabue scored via a free kick.

FMU strikers Brad Tulley and Alejandro Caicedo combined for five shots apiece in the loss.

FMU will return to action on Wednesday, September 27 as they host Southeastern in conference competition. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Dr. Lester Brown Park.
