MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | No. 22 Florida Memorial exploded to the tune of 52 second-half points en route to a 77-74 victory over Coastal Georgia at the FMU Wellness Center. The win marks the second straight conference victory for the Lions, who improve to 2-1 in SUN play.
The Lions trailed by eight points at the break and scored just 25 points in the first half. As a team FMU could not capitalize from the charity stripe, shooting less than 50 percent. However, the resilient group calmly made second-half adjustments and executed Coach Delano Thomas' plan down the stretch.
Florida Memorial was led by post-player
Latavious Mitchell, who finished with a team-high 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists while teammate
Felix Uadiale added 15 points, five boards, two assists and two steals in 31 minutes of action.
As a team, the Lions scored nearly 50 points in the paint while allowing 34 for the Mariners.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, January 17 as they face Ave Maria. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Ave Maria.
