No. 16 Lions pull away in second half in 80-66 victory over Ave Maria (RV)

Box Score AVE MARIA, Fla. | No. 16 Florida Memorial led by five points at the break before cruising to an 80-66 victory over Ave Maria (RV). This marks the third straight win for the red hot Lions, who improve to 3-1 in conference play and 15-2 overall.

FMU post player Felix Uadiale was an enforcer, finishing with a team-high 17 points and 11 boards while guard Derrius Ward filled the stat sheet with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Florida Memorial's defense was solid throughout the night, holding the NAIA's best three-point shooting team to less than 17 percent (7-of-42) from downtown while connecting on over 31 percent (6-of-19) of their three-pointers.

FMU strong man Latavious Mitchell, who was one of two SUN conference players recently selected to the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List, had a productive game, finishing with 13 points, nine boards, one assist and one steal in the victory.

Florida Memorial forward Raheem Carter made his return to the court, scoring 11 points and adding two rebounds, two assists, and one steal in just 13 minutes of action.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, January 20 as they face Webber. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. in Babson Park, Fla.
