FMU women's soccer makes history in 3-0 victory over Warner

Lions earn seventh victory of the season; producing the most wins in program history.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University women's soccer team defeated Warner 3-0 at Dr. Lester Brown Park. The victory marks the seventh win of the season, which is the most wins in program history. Head coach Marc Lue Young couldn't be more thrilled after taking over a dismal program in Fall 2022.

The Lions got on top early when team captain Brianna Campos scored her first career collegiate goal in the third minute of the match.

Coming out of the half, sophomore Olecia Colston scored a goal in the 56th minute to put FMU up by two. Senior Irati Elorduy put the final nail in the coffin, scoring a goal off an assist from Rudo Marufu.

FMU controlled the match from start to finish, generating 16 shots while only allowing one shot in the second half. Garcia produced another clean sheet, allowing zero goals all afternoon, including a magnificent diving save in the latter half.

The win advances FMU to 7-4-2 on the year and 3-3-2 in conference play.

The Lions return to action Saturday, October 26, when they'll host New College of Florida for senior night. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Orange Bowl Field.
