FMU falls to No. 1 Keiser 51-16 in West Palm Beach

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. | Florida Memorial University entered Saturday's contest with a shot at a share of the SUN Conference title, but fell to the defending NAIA champions, No. 1 Keiser 51-16.

Freshman kicker Oliver Robbins connected on a 24-yard field goal to give the Lions an early 3-0 lead. However, the Seahawks scored 41 unanswered points before star running back Walter Wilbon scored the first touchdown of the game for FMU, but it was too little too late for the Lions.

Sophomore quarterback and reigning SUN Conference Offensive Player of the Week David Buggs completed 18-of-35 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown while Wilbon finished with 90 rushing yards and a touchdown. FMU wide receiver Jalen Holley led the team with three catches for 35 yards and a touchdown reception.

On the defensive end, linebacker Joshua Mimms produced one sack and tied a team-high with seven tackles while defensive back Darius Conley also generated a team-high seven tackles.

The Lions return to the gridiron on Saturday, November 16 as they host Lincoln in non-conference action for senior day. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Betty T. Ferguson Stadium.
