LAKELAND, Fla. | Florida Memorial University took care of business against Southeastern, defeating the Fire 59-49 in the conference opener. FMU stumbled out of the gate, with a nine-point first quarter, but bounced back strong outscoring SEU 50-35 in the final 30 minutes of regulation.

Kamesha Moore led the team in scoring with 14 points, going 4-of-9 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line. Senior
Ebony Black-Smith added 12 points for FMU, going 5-of-10 from the field, along with nine rebounds. Michigan native
Alyza Winston completed the trio of double-digit scorers for FMU, with 11 points, going 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Senior
Agar Farres Garcia led the team in rebounds with 13 and blocks with two, while Black-Smith and
Brittany Rivera co-led in steals with three each.
The win advances FMU to 6-1 on the year and 1-0 in conference play.
The Lions return to action Wednesday, November 20, when they'll host Warner. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
