FMU sets modern day program record for most points with 75-21 blowout over Thomas

Lions set a modern day record for most points in a single football game since the program resurfaced in 2021.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University set a modern day program record for most points since the program resurfaced in 2020 as they throttled Thomas 75-21 at Betty T. Ferguson Stadium. The win marks the fourth consecutive victory for the Lions as they improve to 4-1 in SUN Conference play.

FMU quarterback David Buggs led an offense that generated over 600 total yards of offense, protected by one of the best offensive lines in the country. He was sensational all afternoon, completing 18-of-26 passes for 341 yards and a career-high four passing touchdowns while running back Walter Wilbon torched the Night Hawks defense to the tune of 143 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground. Buggs joined in on the fun and added two rushing touchdowns of his own in the lopsided victory.

FMU wide out Markell Lee led all Lions receivers with six receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown reception while teammates Christian Edgerson, Jordan Grant and Vallee Washington both caught touchdown passes for FMU.

On the defensive end, Lions defensive lineman Kareem Roberts led the Lions with eight total tackles while fellow Lions Marcell Blocker and Darius Conley both produced interceptions for FMU. Conley also added a punt block in the first half that electrified the crowd at "Betty T."

Freshman kicker Oliver Robbins finished a perfect 9-of-9 on point after touchdown attempts and averaged 55.2 yards per kickoff. His 12 kickoffs are a career-high and a program record in the modern era.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, November 9 as they travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. to play the defending NAIA champions, Keiser. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. at the Keiser Multipurpose Field.
