AUSTIN, Texas | Florida Memorial University kicks off the Kevin Herod era with a sweep in the Tiffany Jackson HBCU Classic, defeating Texas College 65-52 in Austin. 

FMU was led by senior Ebony Black-Smith, who finished the day with 15 points, going 7-of-13 from the field and five rebounds. Senior Agar Farres Garcia scored 13 points, going 3-of-6 from the field and rebounding 13 times and generating three blocks. Point guard Kamesha Moore played a key role, finishing with five steals in the game.

The win advances FMU to 2-0 on the year.

The Lions return to action Monday, November 4, when they'll host Jarvis Christian for the home opener. Tip-off is slated for noon at the FMU Wellness Center.
