WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. | Florida Memorial's women's basketball season comes to an end with a close loss to the Keiser Seahawks 69-67 at the Countess de Hoernle Student Life Center.
The Lions kept pace with the Seahawks in the first half, trailing 27-26. In the third quarter, FMU was outscored 25-20, facing a six-point deficit going into the final quarter of the season. The fourth proved to be the most successful for Florida Memorial as they outscored Keiser 21-17, but a late foul gave the Seahawks a trip to the free-throw line, where they connected on both shots with only three seconds left on the clock, handing FMU the season-ending loss.
The Lions were led by guard
Dasiah Thornton, who finished with 23 points, going 9-of-18 from the field and 5-of-11 from the three-point line. Former All-SUN selection
Chantel Barnett finished right behind with 21 points, going 8-of-16 from the field along with nine rebounds, while Philly native
Nyah Johnson chipped in six points for FMU.
Florida Memorial concludes the 2023-24 season with an 11-16 overall record and a 3-11 conference record. The defending SUN Conference champions just missed out on defending their title, falling short by one spot of making the SUN Conference tournament.
