Game One:
FMU 6 - AMU 4
The Gyrenes kicked off the doubleheader with three runs in the first two innings, giving them a 3-0 lead early on. Center fielder
Pheron Charlton began scoring for FMU, with a sacrifice RBI that brought shortstop
Marco Medina home in the top of the third. Charlton added his second sacrifice RBI in the top of the fifth, this time scoring right fielder
Ivan Zambrano to make it a 3-2 game after five innings.
The Lions would tie the game in the top of the eighth, off a
Genesis Nunez sacrifice RBI that brought Charlton around the diamond. A scoreless ninth inning would send the game to extra innings, starting with the top of the 10th.
Senior
Luis Ruiz kicked off the extra inning with a run scored to give FMU the lead at 4-3. Charlton followed suit with his second run of the afternoon to expand the Lions' lead to two runs. An

Alejandro Fernandez for Florida Memorial's sixth run of the game, giving them a three-run lead going into the bottom of the 10th. Despite Ave Maria scoring a run in the bottom of the inning, the Lions' defense held on to take victory in game one of the weekend series.
Boynton Beach native
Max Charnin started on the mound for the Lions and in seven innings allowed three hits, two runs, and three walks while striking out five Gyrenes. Junior
Kelvin Feliciano, (2-0), was credited with the victory and in two innings allowed only one hit. Junior
Jamal Johnson finished on the mound for FMU and in his lone inning pitched allowed three hits and one run while striking out two Gyrenes.
Game Two:
FMU 0 - AMU 11
Ave Maria opened the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the third to give them a 4-0 lead. The Gyrenes continued to score by adding two runs to their total in the bottom of the fourth, extending their lead to 6-0. AMU proceeded to add an additional five runs in the bottom of the fifth, extending their lead to double-digit runs. Despite shutting out Ave Maria in the last two innings, FMU failed to score a run during the game, as they dropped game two of the series 11-0. The defeat marks the first time this season the Lions have been shut out.
Junior
Carlos Solano (1-2), was credited with the loss and in four innings pitched allowed seven hits, six runs, and one walk while striking out two Gyrenes. Fellow junior
Jacob Williams came in relief and in two innings allowed four hits, five runs, and three walks while striking out three Gyrenes.
The split moves FMU to 15-7 on the year and 4-2 in conference play.
The Lions return to action Sunday, March 24, where they'll take on Ave Maria for the second doubleheader in the series. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. in Ave Maria, Fla.
