FMU men's soccer maintains 3-0 lead over FC before weather delay

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University faced Florida College in a rainy contest that was suspended numerous times due to weather in the 58th minute with the score 3-0 in favor of the Lions at Dr. Lester Brown Park.

FMU took an early lead when Frank Sanchez found the back of the net in the 9th minute. Montenegro doubled the lead with a goal just five minutes later.

Lions defender Tibo Gobet extended Florida Memorial's advantage with his first career goal at FMU, a golden strike that bent away from the goalkeeper to close out the half leading 3-0.

The Lions took the field for the second time, only to be stopped by a lightning delay. After returning to the contest for a third time, the weather did not allow the game to continue, and the game was ultimately suspended.

FMU will return to action on Saturday, September 14 as they travel to Babson Park to take on Webber International University in the Sun Conference opener. Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. at the Warrior Grass Field.
