FMU WBB wins 9th straight contest with 77-58 victory over Coastal Georgia

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | The Florida Memorial University women's basketball team won its ninth straight contest with a 77-58 victory over Coastal Georgia at the FMU Wellness Center. The win lifts FMU to 13-1 on the year as head coach Kevin Herod sets a school record for best start for first year coaches, eclipsing men's basketball coach Delano Thomas, who set the modern day record with a 12-1 start last year.

FMU post-player Agar Farres Garcia produced a double-double and filled the stat sheet with 13 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks while teammate Kalea Rainey finished tied a game-high with 17 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field. She also connected on 8-of-10 from the charity stripe and produced two steals.

As a team, the Lions dominated down low, scoring 36 points in the paint compared to just 18 for their opponent.

FMU returns to the court on Wednesday, January 15 as they travel across town to face St. Thomas in the Battle of Miami Gardens. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. at the Fernandez Family Center.
