MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University fell for the first time in 10 attempts in a 60-54 loss to St. Thomas in the Battle of Miami Gardens at the Fernandez Family Center. The loss drops FMU to 5-1 in SUN conference play.
After leading 45-42 at the end of the third quarter, the Lions were outscored 18-9 in the fourth. FMU was led by
Makayla Transou who finished with a game-high 16 points, eight boards, two steals and one assist while teammate
Kamesha Moore added 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals, but finished with six turnovers in the loss.
The Lions capitalized on the Bobcats mistakes, scoring 18 points off of 23 St. Thomas turnovers, but it wasn't enough as FMU was outrebounded 45-43.
FMU falls to 13-2 overall as they taste defeat for just the second time all season.
FMU returns to the court on Saturday, January 18 as they travel north to face Keiser. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. at the Student Life Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
