2nd half surge lifts Lions to 9th straight victory with 81-67 win over Fort Lauderdale

Head coach Delano Thomas' Lions are one of the hottest teams in the NAIA.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | No. 22 Florida Memorial University won their ninth straight contest with an 81-67 victory over Fort Lauderdale in non-conference play at the FMU Wellness Center. The win lifts the Lions to 16-4 overall.

After trailing by just one point at the break, the Lions outscored their opponent by 15 points in the second half, dominating the latter half in typical fashion.

FMU center Mohamad Diallo finished with a game-high 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field to go along with seven boards, two blocks and one assist while teammate Latavious Mitchell, who was named this week's SUN Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, produced another double-double, as he scored 13 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, generated three steals and dished out two assists in the victory. In the second half, Diallo produced one of the most sensational dunks of the year as he sent the entire FMU Wellness Center into a frenzy.

As a team, FMU took full control down low all night, scoring 46 points in the paint compared to just 24 for the Eagles.

Teammates Felix Uadiale and Dahmir Bishop chipped in with 12 and 11 points respectively.

The Lions return to the court on Wednesday, January 29 as they face Warner in SUN Conference action. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Lake Wales, Fla.
