MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University's Homecoming game was one to remember, as the Lions dominated Warner University 49–21 in front of an energetic crowd. FMU's offense attained 349 rushing yards and 172 passing yards, showcasing balance and precision on both sides of the ball.
Running back, senior
Jerodd Sims, led the team with 205 yards on 20 attempts and two touchdowns. He broke through tackles all game and averaged more than 10 yards per run. Junior
Nygel Osborne added 58 yards and one touchdown, and freshman
Tedric Wilcox ran for 39 yards and three touchdowns.
At quarterback, Wilcox also threw for 134 yards and one touchdown, completing 11 of 18 passes. Senior
Tyquan Wiggins added 38 passing yards and one touchdown, helping the Lions keep the pressure the entire game.
FMU's offense kept the pressure on from start to finish, combining powerful plays and consistent drives to keep Warner on their heels. The Lions kept control of the game, moving the ball easily and making big plays when needed. The defense held strong, keeping Warner from gaining any momentum.
On defense,
Fernando Jeanty put together a stellar performance, with 10 total tackle and 1.5 sacks.
Darius Stokes came away with a huge interception, that allowed FMU to keep their momentum throughout the game. Overall the defense sacked Warner five times.
This win places the Lions 3-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
FMU Lions return to the field Saturday, October 25, when they'll travel to Thomasville, Ga, to take on Thomas University. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
