FMU breaks scoring record with 85-7 win over Thomas

THOMASVILLE, Ga. | Florida Memorial University broke its single-game scoring record, with a dominant 85-7 victory over Thomas in SUN Conference play. Head coach Michael Jones celebrated his birthday with the most dominant performance in the history of the football program, defeating the Nighthawks by 78 points.

FMU scored 21 or more points in three of the four quarters. In the fourth quarter alone, the Lions scored 36 points. After allowing a single touchdown in the first half, the defense shut out Thomas for the remainder of the game and caused fits for the Nighthawks all night, with five forced fumbles.

Quarterback Tedric Wilcox had a career day, going 17-29 for 259 yards along with eight passing touchdowns and one interception. He added six carries for 29 yards on the ground as well. Running back Nygel Osborne led the backfield with 10 carries for 109 yards and a score, while junior Norman Blackshear also scored on the ground for the Lions. Five receivers caught a touchdown for FMU, led by Jalen Holly, who brought in a pair of touchdowns for the Lions. Receivers Arabia BradfordFenzy DaciusManny Reyes, and Dacarion Debouse all caught a touchdown in the blowout victory.

On defense, teammates Ahmaud Jordan and Kareem Roberts co-led the team in tackles with seven, while Roberts led in solo tackles with six, and Jordan led in tackles for loss with two and a half. Roberts also had a forced fumble. On special teams, kicker Sean Egloff went a perfect 11-11 on PATs.

The win advances FMU to 3-4 on the year and 3-1 in conference play.
