MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | The streak is over! Florida Memorial University won their first match of the season in a thrilling 3-2 (25-23, 28-26, 10-25, 13-25, 18-26) win over Webber International at the FMU Wellness Center.
The Lions took control of the first two sets, before falling in the third and fourth sets to go into the final set 2-2. The team played and fought hard until the very end, ultimately culminating in the 18-16 win in Set 5.
Sophomore
L'fe Roberts led the offense with 14 kills on the day, along with two aces and three blocks. Sophomore
Desiree Donald added 10 kills for FMU, and led the defense with 23 digs. Sophomore
Serena Edwards led in aces with three. Freshman
Aviyah Henderson led the team in blocks with six, while Sophomore
Juliana Medina led the team in assists with 18.
The win advances FMU to 1-20 on the year, and 1-10 in conference play. The win snaps a 42-match losing streak for FMU.
The Lions return to action Wednesday, October 29, when they'll travel to St. Thomas for the Battle of Miami Gardens. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
