Last-second basket results in 65-64 loss in Keiser Thanksgiving Classic

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. | Florida Memorial University was seconds away from its third-straight win in round one of the Keiser Thanksgiving Classic. Up against Mobile, the Lions were up 64-63 with 14 seconds left. Unfortunately, Mobile scored the game-winning basket with seconds on the clock, and with little time left, the Lions couldn't find another score, resulting in a close, heartbreaking loss.

Junior Kalea Rainey continued her monster stretch, with her fourth-straight 20-point performance. She scored 27 points, going 12-of-19 from the field, and added five steals in the process. Sophomore Jazlynn Givens led the team in rebounds with nine, one short of a double-double, along with 14 points, on 7-of-10 from the field. Senior Alicia Bates led in steals with nine, with scoring 13 points for the Lions.

The loss drops FMU to 3-2 on the year.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday, November 26, when they'll play the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis for day two of the Keiser Thanksgiving Classic. Tip-off is slated for 12 p.m. in West Palm Beach.
