LAKELAND, Fla. | Florida Memorial University defeated Missouri Baptist 57-56 in a thrilling game that took the Lions to overtime for the first time this season. The Lions and MBU traded the lead all day long, with FMU holding a five-point advantage with a few minutes left, before Missouri Baptist closed the deficit to send the game to overtime. Two crucial free throws by
Sa'mya Stevens with 16 seconds left, and excellent defense from the Lions, secured the victory for FMU for their final game of the 2025 calander year.
The trio of Stevens,
Kalea Rainey, and
Khaliah Reid co-lead the team with 13 points apiece, while teammate
Jazlynn Givens put together a defensive masterclass leading the team with rebounds with 10, and steals with five.
The win moves FMU to 6-3 on the season.
