FMU baseball falls to Keiser in non-conference contest

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University fell 15-7 to Keiser in non-conference competition at the Harry T. Moore Baseball Field. The loss drops the Lions to 1-3 on the year.

FMU trailed 2-0 in the second inning before getting on the board in the third inning when Ernie Farrell produced an RBI-single to left field that scored speedster Pheron Charlton. Moments later, senior Reinaldo Prieto took a pitch over the left field fence for a home run.

In the fifth inning, the Seahawks scored four runs before FMU responded with four runs in the sixth inning when newcomer Kidane Stephens generated an RBI-single to left field, bringing home Justin Martinez. Farrell then produced a 3-RBI double to center field which scored Stephens, Christian Carratala and and Raymond Rivera.

The Seahawks then outscored the Lions 9-1 in the final three innings, pulling away for the victory.

FMU returns to the diamond on Friday, February 14 as they travel to Warner for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. in Lake Wales, Fla.
