FMU Lions softball team participates in HBCU Classic in South Carolina

WHAT:

OneSpartanburg, Inc. and Spartanburg County have partnered with Bowie State University to host the second-annual HBCU Softball Classic, bringing teams from Historically Black Colleges and Universities across 10 states to Spartanburg County, including Florida Memorial University out of Miami Gardens, Fla.

Participating teams represent the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), the SUN Conference, and the HBCU Athletic Conference.

WHEN:

Game action begins Friday, February 14 at noon and continues through the Championship Game on Sunday, February 16.

WHERE:

Tyger River Park, owned and operated by the Spartanburg County Parks Department, one of the Southeast's premier baseball and softball complexes, with 12 fields and a championship stadium.

HOW: Games can be viewed via the HiCast Sports Network on the Tyger River Park channel.

QUOTES:

"I'm very excited to have my team participate in this HBCU Softball Classic," said FMU head softball coach Charlee Combs. "We are competing against a ton of NCAA HBCUs, so it will be great to battle against other universities outside of Florida."

The FMU Lions will play three games on Valentine's Day, Friday, February 14, followed by two more contests on Saturday, February 15.
