No. 15 Lions use 16-2 run to open 2nd half in 73-66 victory over Banyans

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | No. 15 Florida Memorial University trailed 35-29 at the break before going on a furious 16-2 run to open the second half en route to a 73-66 victory over New College of Florida at the FMU Wellness Center. The win lifts the Lions to 9-3 in conference play.

FMU power forward Latavious Mitchell was marvelous all night, finishing with a game-high 31 points and 16 rebounds to go along with five blocks and two assists. The senior shot a near-perfect 8-of-9 from the charity stripe while teammate Maximo Moratinos added nine points and four rebounds in the victory.

The Lions produced 42 point in the paint while allowing just 26 for the Banyans. FMU's bench outscored New College of Florida 25-0.

Florida Memorial University returns to the court on Saturday, February 8 as they host Webber. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
