MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | No. 15 Florida Memorial University opened the game with a historic 25-3 run en route to a 78-54 victory at the FMU Wellness Center. The win helps the Lions improve to 10-3 in SUN Conference action.
The Lions were led by sharpshooter
Calvin Payton who finished with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, including a blistering 6-of-10 from downtown. Teammates
Dahmir Bishop and
Latavious Mitchell both scored 12 points apiece, with Bishop adding four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal. Mitchell also grabbed five boards, dished out three assists and produced one steal in the victory.
As a team, FMU shot 50 percent from the field (28-of-56) and hit a total of 13 3-pointers. The Lions' bench continued the onslaught, outscoring the Warriors' bench 26-13.
Florida Memorial University returns to the court on Monday, February 10 as they host Florida National. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
