MIAMI SHORES, Fla. | Florida Memorial University suffered their first loss of the season, as they fell to Barry in a close 1-0 match at Buccaneer Field.
The Bucs scored the match's lone goal in the 10th minute of the first half. Despite keeping pace with the Bucs, exchanging shots throughout the match, the Lions couldn't find the back of the net, resulting in the defeat.
Freshman
Alba Carcamo-Alvarado had a productive night, with a team-leading four shots, including three shots on goal, while teammate
Luna Berushi added three shots for FMU. Seniors
Ariana Artavia and
Jada Samuels finished the night with two shots each, while
Alexia Medrano Martinez and
Jayda Simmons chipped in one shot each.
On defense, goalkeeper
Isabella Rueda finished the night with only one goal allowed and 10 saves.
The loss drops FMU to 2-1 on the season.
Florida Memorial University returns to action Wednesday, September 24, when they'll host Webber International in non-conference play. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. at Dr. Lester Brown Park.
