MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University defeated Florida National in a gutsy 70-67 overtime win at the FMU Wellness Center. The Lions were down by double-digits at one point in the second half, but battled through to send the game to overtime, where they pulled away and held on for the win.
Junior
Kalea Rainey led the team in scoring with 24 points, along with five rebounds and four steals. Senior
Jasmine Worthy added 15 points, along with seven rebounds, while junior
Sa'mya Stevens chipped in 10 points. Sophomore
Jazlynn Givens led in the team in rebounds with 13, while adding nine points.
The win moves FMU to 9-6 on the season.
FMU returns to action Saturday, January 24, for a road game against Southeastern. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. in Lakeland, Fla.
