Head Coach Jones to be Presented with Miami Touchdown Community Leadership Award

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University head football coach Michael Jones will be presented with the Miami Touchdown Community Leadership Award on Saturday, March 14. Jones has been a mainstay of the community, and this award will award him for his contributions to South Florida football and the community.

"This award is a true honor, and I am sincerely appreciative of the recognition," said Jones. "Thank you Miami Touchdown Club for this incredible award. This award is a true testament of the support I have received throughout my journey. I'm a true believer that if you take care of the community that the community will take care of you."

The Miami Touchdown Club is a charitable organization that was founded in 1959 that supports South Florida high school football players through scholarships, awards, and community events. They have long standing relationships with local high schools, the University of Miami, Florida International University, and the Miami Dolphins.

"Coach Michael Jones is a man of character who leads with integrity and a deep commitment to his student-athletes and the South Florida community," said Interim Athletic Director Chandra Dorsey-Felton. "His work ethic and passion for developing young men both on and off the field reflect the true meaning of leadership. This recognition is well deserved and a testament to the impact he continues to make in our program and in the community."

The Miami Touchdown award ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 14, at 6 p.m. at the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame Museum.

"On behalf of the Florida Memorial University family, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Coach Michael Jones on receiving the Miami Touchdown Club's Community Leadership Award," said FMU president, William McCormick Jr. "This recognition speaks not only to his excellence on the field, but more importantly to his unwavering commitment to shaping young lives, strengthening our community, and leading with integrity. Coach Jones exemplifies the true spirit of leadership, character, and service. We are proud to celebrate a man whose influence reaches far beyond the game and whose dedication continues to inspire the next generation of leaders. Florida Memorial University salutes Coach Jones for this well-deserved honor."
