MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University fell to No. 10 Southeastern in the series opener 9-3 at Harry T. Moore Baseball Field. The Lions kept pace with Southeastern in the first half of the game, only down three runs after six innings. However, an explosive six-run top of the seventh derailed FMU's efforts, and despite a three-run bottom of the seventh, they couldn't overcome the deficit.
Freshman,
Wade Francis, started on the mound for the Lions. He allowed six hits and six earned runs, while striking out four Fire. Teammates
Don McKnight III,
Eric Leal, and
Gregory Leal scored the Lions trio of runs, with McKnight leading the team in hits with three. Center fielder,
Pheron Charlton led in RBI with a pair on the day.
The loss drops FMU to 14-10 on the year and 1-4 in conference play.
