MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University defeated Byrant & Stratton 14-4 in the series finale, completing the sweep in only seven innings.
The Bobcats scored the first run in the top of the first, before third baseman
Wilber Puertas walked to score right fielder
Armando Ramirez in the bottom of the first. The Bobcats retook the lead in the top of the second, before the Lions exploded with a six-run bottom of the third to retake and extend their lead. FMU scored three more runs an inning later to make the score 10-2, before the Bobcats scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to close the gap. FMU put the game to bed with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, and shutting out B&S an inning later to end the game early with the mercy rule.
First baseman
Justin Martinez led the team in hits with two, with second baseman
Christian Carratala leading in runs with three and RBI with three. Puertas led in walks with two.
Junior
Esteban Jogins (2-0), got the win. In six innings, he allowed five hits, four earned runs, and three walks, while striking out six Bobcats. Freshman
Marwan Khatib finished the last inning for FMU, allowing only one walk and striking out two Bobcats.
The win moves FMU to 9-6 on the season.
