AVE MARIA, Fla. | Florida Memorial University split its Friday doubleheader with Ave Maria,, falling in game one 2-9, before taking game two 10-6 at the ballpark. FMU struggled in the DH opener, but capitalized in the finale to go into the series finale, with a chance to split the series and stay in the race for the SUN Conference Tournament.

Pheron Charlton each had a team-leading, pair of runs. McKnight led the team in hits with five across both games, along with a team-high three RBIs alongside third baseman,
Wilber Puertas. Sophomore
Jesus Ramos (3-1) got the win, allowing two hits and striking out two Gyrenes. Reigning SUN Pitcher of the Week,
Jamal Johnson, got the save, allowing only two hits and striking out three Gyrenes.
The split moves FMU to 20-23 on the year and 7-16 in conference play.
FMU returns to action Saturday, April 18, for the series finale at Ave Maria. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
